In December 2020, I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer, specifically invasive ductal carcinoma grade III, 3/13LN+; ER+/PR+/Her2-, plus grade II ductal carcinoma in situ. Immediately, I was flooded with a range of emotions, beginning with shock, sadness, and complete disbelief. Mostly though, I felt scared and frustrated! Since I had already been living with autoimmune diseases, I felt that my body had betrayed me. I was faced with my own mortality once again, reminded of the fragility of life. However, my mindset quickly changed after some reflection. I realized that, just as I am a survivor of these serious autoimmune diseases, I could survive this diagnosis too if I fought vigorously. Fortunately, I was also surrounded by an incredibly strong support system of family, friends, and amazing doctors. After approximately eight months of weekly treatment and suffering every possible side effect, I completed my treatment plan and began my road to recovery (still going!).

While my fight with breast cancer was grueling, I realized how strong my support system was and how instrumental having the right people around you can be for achieving a successful outcome. With this, I knew I needed to find a way to help others. With each side effect, I uttered, “the shit they don't tell you.” I learned so much through my journey fighting my cancer and other chronic illnesses, so I wanted to develop a system to share this knowledge to benefit others fighting a similar battle. Initially, I helped a small group of women through their journey by sharing my personal experiences and lessons, as well as being an advocate for them. This whole process helped me heal as well. Thereafter, I had the good fortune of being introduced to Jenn Greenhut - a kindred spirit - and we realized that, together, we could uniquely help others on  a larger scale by creating an advocacy and education program to support the various needs of people fighting cancer and other chronic illnesses during their respective journeys.
